Sardinien beheimatet am 3. Oktober 2010 den weltweit ersten TriStar222 Langdistanztriathlon. Der TriStar222 Sardinia Arzachena Costa Smeralda findet in Italiens schönster Gegend statt, wo weiße Sandstände auf glasklares Meer treffen – der Smaragdküste. Der erste Langdistanztriathlon unter einem internationalen Label in Italien vereint 2km Schwimmen, 200km Radfahren und 20km Laufen. Das Rennen wird von I AM SPORT Events & Consulting und Star Production SARL organisiert und von der Region Sardinien unterstützt.
TriStar222 Sardinia Arzachena Costa Smeralda feiert am 3. Oktober 2010 seine Premiere. Athleten aus verschiedensten Ländern werden den ersten Triathlon unter der TriStar222 Marke in Angriff nehmen und die 2km Schwimmen, 200km Radfahren und 20km Laufen vor einer atemberaubenden Kulisse genießen. Es ist der erste Langdistanztriathlon mit einem internationalen Label auf italienischem Boden.
“TriStar222 Sardinia beinhaltet eine meiner Lieblingsradstrecken. Sie ist landschaftlich attraktiv und dank des hügeligen Profils zugleich herausfordernd. Das wird allen Athleten erlauben, sich in Geschicklichkeit und Stärke zu messen, und es wird den Wettkampf spannender gestalten“, sagt die italienische Triathlonmeisterin Martina Dogana, die bei der Streckenauswahl in Sardinien mitgewirkt hat.
Die Auftaktdisziplin 2km Schwimmen findet im klaren Wasser der Bucht von Cannigione (Arzachena) statt, in der Provinz Olbia. Die 200km lange Radstrecke ist gänzlich für den Verkehr gesperrt. Nachdem die Teilnehmer in Arzachena angekommen sind, werden sie östlich nach Porto Cervo und von dort weiter entlang der Landzunge westlich von Cannigione fahren. Zurück in Arzachnea, wird die Strecke die Athleten zur Nordostküste nahe Palau führen. Dann folgt die Route der Küstenstraße durch Santa Teresa di Gallura bis nach Aglientu, wo die Athleten einen Abstecher ins wilde Hinterland von Nordsardinien machen. Charakteristisch für diese Landschaft ist das mediterrane Buschland, durch das die Strecke nach Luogosanto, Tempio Pausania, Luras, Calangianus, Sant'Antonio di Gallura und zurück nach Cannigione führt. Der abschließende Lauf über 20km führt über einen 5km langen Rundkurs, der vier Mal zu absolvieren ist.

Ich danke allen Beteiligten für ihre Schnelligkeit in der Umsetzung, welche es uns erlaubt, mit Italien an der Spitze dieses Sports zu stehen“, erklärte Stefano Piero Filigheddu, Bürgermeister von Arzachena, bei der Präsentation der Veranstaltung diese Woche.
Die Costa Smeralda – die Smaragdküste – ist ein mehr als 30km2 umfassendes Küstengebiet in Nordsardinien mit bezaubernden Stränden und einer wunderschönen Landschaft. Das Gebiet ist eine luxuriöse touristische Destination und Gastgeber zahlreicher wichtiger Sportveranstaltungen wie der Sardinia Cup Segelregatta, Polo Matches, Oltimer-Rallyes und auch des Italienischen Filmfestivals.

“TriStar222 Sardinia offers one of my favourite cycling routes, attractive from the standpoint of scenery and at the same time challenging in terms of racing, thanks to the rolling landscapes. The hilly layout will enable all athletes to compete in agility and strength, and at the same time it will make the competition even more exciting”, says Martina Dogana, Italian Champion in triathlon who has participated in developing the race in Sardinia.
The 2km swim takes place in the clear waters of the Bay of Cannigione (Arzachena), in the province of Olbia. The 200km cycling portion follows a single-loop course entirely closed for traffic. Once in the vicinity of Arzachena, triathletes will head east towards Porto Cervo sailing around the headland on the west of Cannigione. Once back near Arzachena, the circuit will turn towards the coast in the North-East to Palau. Then athletes will follow the coastal road through Santa Teresa di Gallura until Aglientu, where the course will enter into the wild hinterlands of Northern Sardinia distinguished by the classical Mediterranean bush through Luogosanto, Tempio Pausania, Luras, Calangianus, Sant'Antonio di Gallura and back to Cannigione. The 20km run course consists of a very fast circuit of 5 km, entirely flat along the seafront of Cannigione, to be completed 4 times.

Costa Smeralda – the Emerald Coast – is a coastal area in northern Sardinia covering more than 30km2 with enchanting beaches and beautiful landscapes. The area is a luxurious tourist destination and hosts important international sports events like the Sardinia Cup sailing regatta, polo matches, vintage car rally’s, and also the Italian Film Festival.
