Read this outstanding interview with Dominique Benassi, one of the athletes that will take part to the first edition of TriStar222 Sardinia.

"Disability is in the mind. The human species has the ability to adapt to the accidents of life, the tragedies that strike us are challenges"

What prompted you to practice triathlon, despite the difficulties due to your "disability"?
In the 90s the triathlon was not allowed! What convinced me to practice is that the triathlon has become a democratic sport.

What reasons have led you to subscribe to TriStar222 Sardinia, a very challenging race, especially for the long bicycle course?
I regularly do Ironman distance races; the important thing is to have a good preparation, disability is in the mind.

Certainly, many might be surprised to see you participate in triathlons, what do you answer to those asking you how you deal with efforts so intense?
The human species has the ability to adapt to the accidents of life, the tragedies that strike us are challenges. The training is a part of the efforts to address this capacity that the person faces; I've decided to face the rest of the suffering.

What do you expect from the race in October in Sardinia?
Many emotions and especially the joy of participating in such an event, and also being recognized as a real triathlete. Four years ago I crossed the Atlantic rowing, there were 2 people with no legs out of 26 boats and we came third!
