The new TriStar® event series offers a wide range of triathlon events. The events are designed for accessibility by triathletes and all other kinds of athletes who want to participate in races combining the world's three most popular sports disciplines.

The TriStar® event series is based on a simple and understandable concept, unlike many other triathlon race formats.

TriStar is an international triathlon event series held over various new distances. It was launched in September 2009 with TriStar200 Andalucía

A simple motto “Yes, you can!” sums up the idea of sport events that are easily accessible for everyone with the desire to participate. Several innovative formats recognized by the ITU offer a perfect complementary solution between Olympic and long-distance triathlons.

Main aspects of TriStar Races

Fun, environmental protection and social responsibility are the three main aspects of all TriStar races.

TriStar takes the world‘s most popular sports disciples – swimming, cycling and running – to serve them in the most fun and enjoyable way. New formats attracting amateurs widen the scope of people interested in participation, which makes us witness rookies standing side by side with top triathletes. Beginners are pleased by the possibility to join relay teams where they can focus on one of the three disciplines; professionals can use TriStar as a preparation for long-distance races. Shorter swim and run distances enable shortened recovery times, giving athletes the possibility to participate in more races than before. More TriStar, more fun!

Emphasizing the importance of environmental protection, TriStar races minimize their negative impact on the environment and what is more, influence positively participants’ behavior towards nature. In cooperation with the 4vita program, TriStar works towards the most effective way of waste management and makes participants involved with actions helping to communicate the importance of sustainability. The main message is straightforward “Take care about nature as much as you care about your body.”

Ongoing cooperation with LIVESTRONG™ (Lance Armstrong Foundation) in the area of social responsibility is completed by support of local institutions in each destination. Variety of actions is undertaken in order to raise participants’ awareness and to generate money donations to these charities. The goal is to give local cancer facilities support in their efforts by collecting money for them and by providing them with a platform to reach the public.

TriStar already unveiled a handful of fresh, fun-oriented new features and there is much more to come. Legalizing drafting on some of the races makes them more thrilling than ever. Giving the possibility to race in teams of five brings the team spirit back to a sport that was for a long time perceived as individual. TriStar comes to break down the old-fashioned triathlon mindset and make everyone enjoy their race in a new, exciting way.

Find your favorite distance and have fun in racing one of the following events:

0,1km swim * 10km cycle * 1km run * total distance: 11,1km

0,3km swim * 30km cycle * 3km run * total distance: 33,3km

0,5km swim * 50km cycle * 5km run * total distance: 55,5km

1km swim * 100km cycle * 10km run * total distance: 111km

2km swim * 200km cycle * 20km run * total distance: 222km

TriStar200: 169km cycle * 1km swim * 30km run * total distance: 200km

The TriStar200 distance is part of the "TriStar® open format" category. The open format can be adapted as local and geographical conditions suggest. In this TriStar® open format category, even the succession of the three disciplines may be altered (for example in TriStar200 Andalucía, athletes cycled first, then swum and ran at the end, instead of doing a classical swim/bike/run race.)

The TriStar kick-off-event took place on 12 September 2009 in Andalucía, Spain. The fun race was labeled TriStar200, which means a total distance of 200km had to be accomplished while cycling, swimming and running (in this order!).
