USAT sanctioning ensures all event safety plans have been carefully reviewed by experienced USAT staff and that proper insurance coverage is in place. Last year, we welcomed USAT head referee Bill Nevala and his team to enforce and promote the guidelines set forth by the governing body for the sport.
All participants must either be annual members of USAT or purchase a one-day license for $10 during registration. To learn more about USAT membership click here.
The TriStar111 Minnesota abides by official USA Triathlon rules and regulations, the governing body for the sport.
Here are the most important rules for TriStar111 Minnesota:
- Drafting off another competitor or motor vehicle is forbidden. The draft zone will be a rectangle 7 meters long by 2 meters wide.
- The bike, helmet and transition bags have to be checked in Friday to allow time for competitors to make modifications, if necessary, to comply with the rules.
- Race Marshals' instructions have to be followed. Protests must be made in written to the Referee.
- Littering is not allowed. Competitors throwing away bike bottles, packaging of bars and gels or the like will be disqualified immediately.
- It is mandatory to swim without your race number. It must be worn on your lower back for the bike and on your front for the run.
- Escorting is forbidden.
- Relays must pass on the timing chip in order to be classified.
- Mobile phones, MP3 players, headsets etc. are not allowed.
- TriStar111 Minnesota apllies all rules and regulations set by the USA Triathlon (USAT).
- Smiles and good mood are mandatory in order to start at TriStar111 Minnesota.
