The first edition of Tristar222 Sardinia Arzachena, Costa Smeralda will take place on 3 October 2010 on the beach of Cannigione (Arzachena), in the province of Olbia.

For the first time, Italy will host a long distance triathlon event taking part of a prestigious international circuit. According to the new format Tristar222, athletes will attempt a proof consistent, seamless, in three sections: 2km swim, 200km bike and 20km run.

Tristar222 Sardinia Arzachena-Costa Smeralda became possible thanks to the agreement concluded by the Italian company I AM Sport Events Consulting and Star Production, with the support of Region Sardinia.

Italy, world leader in tourism for both cultural and natural riches and home of a movement within the Age Group and Professional of absolute level in Europe and Worldwide, fills an international gap proposing the appointment of the year for long distances specialists, by hosting a new format in one of its most prestigious recognized locations.

Prepare to experience the Costa Smeralda in Sardinia in a great, engaging, amazing way. Its crystal clear waters, its breathtaking scenery, the smells and colors typical of the Mediterranean bush and its unique geographical morphology will give you an unprecedented experience.

Start - Swimming 2km

The start is scheduled for 7:00 on 3 October 2010 from the Bay of Cannigione. From the beach of the Bay of Cannigione, competitors will swim towards the open sea for about 400 meters and then come backwards, following the port area and entering into the transition area placed in the port of Cannigione. The Bay of Cannigione is a natural shield to storm surges and currents. That is why the athletes have the opportunity to perform at their best in a supportive environment while their mates and the spectators will enjoy the amazing spectacle of the sunrise in Costa Smeralda.

Swim Gate: 8.30

Cycling 200km

Out of the transition area, the athletes will face the 200km cycling section consisting of a single lap circuit completely closed to vehicular traffic. Once in the vicinity of Arzachena, the route will head east towards Porto Cervo sailing around the headland on the west of Cannigione. Once back near Arzachena, the circuit will turn towards the coast in the North-East to Palau. Then athletes will follow the coastal road through Santa Teresa di Gallura until Aglientu, where the course will enter into the wild hinterlands of Northern Sardinia distinguished by the classical Mediterranean bush through  Luogosanto, Tempio Pausania, Luras, Calangianus, Sant'Antonio di Gallura and back to Cannigione.

All along the route drafting will not be permitted.

Bike Gate: 18.30

Running 20km

The run course will consist of a very fast circuit of 5km, "back and forth”, completely flat and tarmac covered along the seafront of Cannigione, to be completed 4 times. The route follows the seaside of Cannigione except for a detour around the Expo Village. In the proximity of the finishline count-turn bracelets will be given.
