670 individuals and 40 Relay Teams in Pole Position for 111km of Sport and Fun on Sunday.

TriStar111 Monaco takes place on Sunday 5 September in the Principality of Monaco. Some famous sportsmen from other disciplines will have a go at the Formula One of Triathlons, and some of the sport’s greatest athletes will try to prove that the unique TriStar format has a powerful arrival on the triathlon map.

The starting guns will go off at 8:00 o’clock Sunday morning for a unique Triathlon covering 1km of swimming in the Mediterranean, 100km of cycling through the breathtaking hinterland, and 10km of running along the world-famous Formula One circuit through the Principality of Monaco. 670 individual athletes have signed up for the race that is the third over the innovative distances that have been presented by Star Production SARL earlier this year.

Chris McCormack (AUS), Ironman and ITU-distance World Champion will be competing against Olivier Marceau (SUI), Hervé Banti (MON), Mikel Elgezabal (ESP), Romain Cadière (FRA), and 10 more professional athletes in the male category. On the Female side, winner of last year’s Ironman 70.3 (the format that has been replaced by TriStar111) Christel Robin (FRA) will try to defend her pole position against Dina Braguti (ITA), Coralie Lemaire (BEL), and Sara Tavecchio (ITA).

TriStar111 is also open for relay teams composed of two or three athletes. A total of 40 relay teams has signed up and will share the fun of racing TriStar111 Monaco in teams with a start 15 minutes after the individual athletes. Some of the teams generating great media interest are Jenson Button (swim), Alexander Wurz (bike), and Nico Rosberg (run). Two more F1 pilots will share the race: Lucas di Grassi (swim and run) and Bruno Senna (bike). A relay team of specialists in their discipline is composed of Olympian Swimmer Grégory Mallet (swim), professional cyclist in the Radioshack team Geoffroy Lequatre (bike) and five times Ironman France winner Marcel Zamora (run).

Select Relay teams will run under the colours of Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong™ Foundation in order to raise awareness for the fight against cancer, and to raise funds for local cancer charities. Athletes and spectators will be able to donate money in order to show their commitment and social responsibility.

TriStar111 is based on distances that are easy to memorize. The same principly applies for some interesting athletes worth following on TriStarLive.com during the event: Racing with № 1 will be Chris McCormack – he won the first TriStar111 ever in Germany in June. Former pro cyclist Patxi Vila of Spain will race with № 10. Race № 100 is reserved for Nicolas Mazetier who is said to be very strong on the cycling leg as well. And Franco Castori of Italy will proudly wear № 111 – the 72 years old Italian is our eldest competitor.

The race commits to environmental protection while it applies the 4vita program underlining the importance of a healthy body and a healthy environment. In cooperation with the SMA (Monaco’s Waste Management Company), all waste generated during the event will be processed and recycled, and a carbon footprint for the event will be calculated in cooperation with the Fondation du Prince Albert II.
