Andy Fuchs, winner of the inaugural TriStar Split

Star Events (SE): Andi where are you and what are you doing at the moment?
Andi Fuchs (AF): I'm still in winter mode, which means that I train less and not so specific. This year I tried some new things, especially power training and athletics. Also, I know there is no need to go to the limit so early in the year.

Thus I have more time to focus on my family and work.

SE: What's your résumé of the 2011 season and what can we expect from you in 2012?
AF: Well, I am very satisfied with the past season. I learned a lot in the mental area, which was new and very important experience, even more important than the 4 victories! To summarize 2011 was extremely good and very special since I succeeded to reach my goals with less than optimal preparation.

SE: What will be your main goals for 2012?

AF: I will participate in quite a lot TriStar races. It would be great to join the TriStar Cup, if there is on in 2012. I will attend the TriStar111 races in Mallorca, Split, and the new one in Salzkammergut - Austria. I would also love to start again in Sardinia at the TriStar222. At Ironman Austria my aim is to exceed my personal limits and try to have that perfect race I'm dreaming about.

SE: You are the TriStar Split 2011 winner and you know the TriStar format quite well. TriStar is coming back to Dalmatia and Split in 2012 on 27th of Mai. How do you see that? And do you know the area?
AF: First of all I’m delighted that 2012 offers another TriStar111 in Split. The new date is perfect at this early stage to prepare physically and mentally for further races. But primarily I will try to win the race again ;-)

SE: Last year you experienced the race with the hilly running course. This year it has changed to a flat one. What do you think of the new running course and what can we expect from the race? Can you recommend people to go there?
AF: Swimming in the port of Split is awesome, and the challenging bike course with the great pavement and some hilly parts with the see so close, suits me perfectly. The new running course can only get easier, and I'm sure I will like it because in Split there’re only nice routes to run!

SE: How do you expect to do at TriStar Split?
AF: As I already said, my goal is to win and defend my title, which makes Split a very special challenge for me. Yet, I had such a great time last year that I love to return to that beautiful City.

SE: Thank you very much Andi! We wish you great results in the New Year!
AF: Thank you, and I wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
