World Class Triathlete Chris McCormack: “TriStar approach race organisation in the same way as I approach my racing.”

Chris McCormack partners up with Star Production SARL for the growing TriStar Series. Macca will participate in many of the triathlon events focused on fun, environmental protection and social responsibility. Besides taking the well known role of a professional athlete, Chris McCormack becomes long-term ambassador, member of the technical board, the advisory board and will help implement the TriStar Series on his native continent Australia.

“TriStar are pushing the endurance barriers and setting new unique challenges that are interesting and tough. I have committed to Tristar because they continue to present spectacular events that are designed with the athlete in mind. TriStar approach race organisation in the same way I approach my racing and it is because of this I feel sound in my decision to work with them." says Chris McCormack, a multiple World Champion at various distances, owning both of the biggest titles in the sport of triathlon, an ITU World Championship and an Ironman World Championship title. Not only was he elected Sportsperson of the Year in his home country Australia when he became Olympic Distance World Champion. He was also elected International Triathlete of the Year in 1997, 1998, 2001, 2006 and again in 2007. USA Triathlon Magazine bestowed on Macca the title of Triathlete of the decade in 2010, following The Great Mark Allen as the performer of the previous.

Macca’s long-term commitment (5 years+) to TriStar will be three-fold. McCormack will be racing most of the races this year and in the future. McCormack becomes member of the technical and the advisory board. McCormack will develop and give support in implementing the TriStar Series in Australia.

Chris McCormack, the TriStar athlete:

On 6 JUN 2010, the Australian will be racing TriStar111 Germany in Worms. “I love racing in Germany. It is a country that has been very kind to me in my career and I have won many of my biggest events in Germany. Competing in Lothar’s event in Worms will be lots of fun. Lothar is an athlete I raced extensively over the years and to support his race is something I am excited about doing.” Macca will also be racing TriStar111 Estonia on 7 AUG 2010, TriStar111 Monaco on 5 SEP 2010, and an additional TriStar race yet to be announced soon. “I think good support from some key endurance racers from many different sports such as cycling and triathlon adds speed to the pointy end of the racing field and gives the racing amateurs a point of reference to build towards in the future.”

Chris McCormack, member of TriStar’s technical board and the advisory board:

Together with great athletes of the kind of Lothar Leder, Peter Reid and Vladimir Salnikov, and the Star Production team, Chris McCormack will develop the TriStar Series strategically and technically. As member of the technical and advisory board of Star Production, they will define global race standards and the global event strategies.

Chris McCormack, TriStar pioneer in Australia:

One of the first TriStar events to be set up outside of Europe will be taking place in Australasia. Although dates are yet to be determined, Chris McCormack will head up the development of the brand in Asia and look at setting events up in his home country of Australia and into Asia. While the dates for races “down under” are not yet fixed, it is sure that Macca will implement TriStar races on the fifth continent in the future.

“The boom in mass participation endurance events globally stems from the very fact that people are looking for a physical challenge that will test them, in a fun environment.”
McCormack adds. Through the partnership with TriStar on all organisational levels, it is sure that he will be contributing to even more enjoyable races.

The TriStar label is owned by Star Production SARL, a Monaco based company specialized in organising high quality sports events that are focused on fun, social responsibility and environmental protection. The TriStar Series has introduced new distances to the sport of triathlon (111km and 222km) and within less than 12 months, the TriStar Series has grown to 5 events across Europe. A portion of each entry fee is automatically donated to a local cancer charity chosen together with Lance Armstrong’s LIVESTRONG™ foundation, and each event applies the 4vita® program to reduce the environmental impact of sports events.
