Lothar Leder (in the right in this picture) is the race director of TriStar Worms-Germany. Lets get to know him a bit better as an event organizer!!!
How do you feel about now being backstage of the races as an organizer?
Do you enjoy developing races and bringing fun and triathlon to other athletes the same way as when you were racing yourself?
What is the best of this 'new' professional role?
It is good to stay on the other side as an organizer sometimes. I still race as a pro so I have a bit of both sides. My goal is to lift the quality of the TriStar races to an top standard.
You are an ambassador of TriStar as an athlete and also you are managing TriStar in Germany. How do you feel seeing that the brand is growing and growing?
We are doing new things with this fantastic TriStar format. Its new, easy for recovery and you can target beginners to jump into triathlon.
What do you like the most of the brand new TriStar format?
I go for the 111 , but next year I will try an 55,5
TriStar Worms is a great success. Tell us the changes you are preparing for 2012, to set up even a higher quality event. Worms was one of the athlete's favourite TriStar race in 2011… Do you think this race is the perfect spot to attract a mass of german and austrian triathletes and why?
We are going to have 2 bike loops, the racecourse will be faster and better for the spectators. All the action will be happening in one place with lots of parking possibilities.
How is long has TriStar been going in the German market?
We are still new and have only just started with TriStar here in Germany. I had more than 1000 starter in my race. So I was very happy. I wanted to prove that an athlete can organize a big race, and I will bring all my experience of 20 years of racing into TriStar Events
How are you planning your sport career? What are your next goals? Did you change a lot in the way of training?
I would like to continue for a few more years. I finished one long race in 8:22h this year, this is not very fast, as I was too soft in training. Next year I need to push harder, as I want to break the 8:10h. I need to run faster!
