A special treat awaits those athletes not quite ready for the rigours of the 111, Tristar Nevis is offering the opportunity to dip your toes into the exciting waters of the sport called triathlon, "We call it the Try-A-Tri" says Winston Crooke, president of the the St.Kitts & Nevis Triathlon Federation. "If you have never done one before now is your chance, the distances are short and very do-able for almost anyone. If you can swim a bit, bike a bit, and run/walk a bit, this event is for you!"
The overall distance is 11.1km and consists of 100m of swimming, 10km of cycling and 1km of running.
The swim will take place in beautiful gallows Bay on Nevis with a simple triangle course that takes you just a couple of meters off shore. Once completed you head off to the transition area on Samuel Hunkins drive where you will collect your bike and set off on the bike course. This out and back route has only one hill and it does not reach 150m in elevation. On to the turnaround in the village of Cotton ground and you are on your way back to downtown Charlestown. After racking your bike and putting on your running shoes, you are off on the run that takes you through the back streets of Charlestown for a 2 loop course bringing you back onto Samuel Hunkins drive to the finish line and the roars or the onlooking crowd. Have you got a better way to spend the day?
With your finishers medal and T-shirt you can kick up your heels at the post race party, bragging rights are all yours, you have tried the tri, now its party time!
Enjoy the professional setup of a great triathlon while having fun over the short distances. Yes, you can!
