Reginald Douglas was one of the participants of TriStar Nevis for 2011. We were very curious to find out his insights from 2011 race as well as the plans for 2012. And guess what? Reggie is coming back to TriStar Nevis!!!
What was the reason for applying solely for TriStar Nevis?
I decided to sign up for Tristar Nevis because of course it is my home country, I love long distance triathlons and also what TriStar stands for!!
What did you like most in your first TriStar?
2011 was my first experience in TriStar and been apart of the early venue set up and in the race was exciting. On race day it was nice to see everything, all the preparations come together the atmosphere was wonderful, as a son of the soil it was nice to recieve thesame amount of cheers as Macca.
What has been the highlight of your career up to date?
Winning the OECS Triathlon Championship 4 times, Sportsman of the year for St. and Nevis for two years back to back (2008 and 2009) and performing well at my first Tristar in 2011.
Share a memorable moment you had experienced throughout your career.
My most memorable moment is when I won the three top triathlons in the Caribbean:- t he Nevis Olympic Distance Triathlon, the Grenada Olympic Distance and the Tobago Rainbow Cup Olympic Distance Triathlons.
How did you choose triathlon in the first place?
Coming from a mountain biking and windsurfing background, triathlons presented a new oppurtunity for me. Here was a new challange waiting for me, so with two friends I formed a team up for the first long distance triathlon that washeld in St.Kitts, this was also the first time i swam from Nevis to St.Kitts.
Will you race as an age grouper or pro ?
Last year 2011 I was competing in TriStar Nevis as an age grouper,for this year 2012 I well race as a pro for this event and I am so excited, the added incentive of a PRIZE PURSE is a welcome bonus and I always wanted to race at this level. That is the next step in my life as a Triathlete.

What is your motto?
My new motto for 2012...!!! Life Starts were your comfort zone ends!!!
What is your training plan for TriStar Nevis?
For me there is only one plan and that is to train hard.
What is your main goal for the next race?
My aim is to improve my 2011 time and my rank.
Tell us about your very first triathlon?
Wow, what can I say it was painful going into a race, one I never trained for, physically it was very demanding but it was still exciting.
