The inaugural TriStar200 Andalucía will take place on 12 SEP 2009 in Andalucía, connecting the Cadiz and the Huelva provinces. For the first time in history, a sports event will be allowed to cut across the Doñana national park - an immense area and one of Europe's most important wetland reserves and a major site for migrating birds. And for the first time, the TriStar event format will invite endurance sport athletes to experience a new succession of disciplines in triathlon: Start with cycling, continue with swimming and then run to the finishline. The challenging run portion of the race along the endless sandy beaches of Doñana have given the Spanish surname to the TriStar200 Andalucía: Desafío Doñana, the Doñana Challenge. And a challenge it will be!
START & BIKE - CADÍZ
The start will be given on the Place de España in Cadíz on 12 SEP 2009 at 7h00 in the morning.
As a heat, you will be cycling along the city walls of Cadíz until you reach the Plaza de la Constitution. From here, a flying start will get you ready for the 169km peloton bike ride through the Cadíz province. Drafting will be allowed. The cycling will take you through the meandering landscapes of the Cadíz region with the contrasts of some steep climbs, flat and fast stretches, historical towns and villages, and modern wind turbines.

7 aid stations will fuel you along the bike course, one approximately every 20 km.

TRANSITION 1 - SANLÚCAR DE BARRAMEDA
Off the bike in Sanlúcar, and into your swim gear. Get ready for not only the transition on the discipline level, but also in your mind!
SWIM - GUADALQUIVIR RIVER
The 1km swim through the currents of the Guadalquivir river from the east to the west bank marks the change from civilization to nature. The Guadalquivir delta is known for the mix of freshwater from the river and saltwater from the Atlantic ocean.
TRANSITION 2 - DOÑANA NATIONAL PARK
When leaving the water on the west bank of the Guadalquivir river, you enter the Doñana national park in the Huelva province. Get prepared for the run portion of the race along the sandy beaches, with the Atlantic on your left and the sand dunes on your right.
RUN - DOÑANA NATIONAL PARK
The 30km run will take place in a protected area and one of Europe's most important wetland reserves and major site for migrating birds. The Doñana Challenge will live up to it's name during the run. Running on sandy ground, under the heat of Andalusia's sun, and possibly facing headwinds all along the way to the Finishline. An aid station will provide you with energy every 2km. Besides these refueling spots, you will be facing the endless beach and the mental challenge to get to the finishline as fast as you can. Unless you bring your MP3 player, you will not be likely to hear other noises than those provided by nature. Remember: you are in the unique position to run through a national park, so respect nature and do not throw away anything elsewhere than in the dedicated areas!
FINISHLINE - MATALASCAÑAS
Once you left the Doñana National Park on the far west end, you will soon reach the finishline on the popular Matalascañas beachfront. Tourists, beach visitors, spectators, your friends and family will be there to welcome you after the Challenging TriStar200 Andalucía race experience. Enjoy running along the last stretch of the run course while being cheered on in this beautiful holiday spot in the Huelva province of Andalucía.
AFTER FINISH
Enjoy the beach, have drinks and food, get a massage, your finisher medal and your finisher t-shirt.
