The experience exceeded all of my expectations. I wanted to race in the heat - 90 degrees and humid! I wanted to see a new country- I got to see two. I wanted to meet new people - too many to list… Could go on and on - what an enriching few days.

Also, I highly recommend the TriStar series to all triathletes who want to enjoy a fun, challenging and well-organized event.

If you are even thinking of doing this race come! Stay the whole week! Do the open water swim race, do the 5k, do the Tri! You won’t regret it.

My favorite parts of the bike portion were 1) obviously the landscape, ocean and mountains 2) the wild animals that I said "hi babies" to every time I saw one 3) riding through town and having everyone out cheering.

The bike was 100k of beauty and pain.

What more could an endurance athlete ask for?

This was definitely one of the toughest races I've ever done. The long, steep climbs, the screaming fast descents, and essentially the technical skills required on this course were totally outside of my comfort zone. I wanted to come here anyway, though. I love the travel and experiencing new cultures, and Nevis did not disappoint. This island is so special.

Race-wise, I was up against Laurel Wassner, and to be honest, I didn't expect to win. I know she has a very strong swim and run, so my strategy was to go all out on the bike and win it there - just race my strength. It worked, despite multiple moments of complete fear and terror on some of those descents!!! This format (1k swim, 100k bike, and 10k run) is my favorite. I can't wait to race more TriStar events and am just so grateful to be a part of this experience here in Nevis. Thank you to the island and the organizers for the hospitality and warm welcome. I'll be back!

Arrived back home in England yesterday after a lovely week in Nevis. Please can I thank you for organising a really great Cross Chanel Swim - I really enjoyed the event especially the hospitality shown by everyone. Hopefully I will come back for the swim in future years.

Friendly and helpful volunteers kept me going, especially the youngsters at the last energy station. Even though I was one of the last on the course they did not make me feel I was holding them back from packing up after a long day. Nevis traffic was mostly courteous whilst racing and the whole Island gave a great atmosphere of support.

We had a brilliant time and we can't say enough good things about this gem of a race. I have no doubt this will get bigger and better each time in the coming years. I'd like to thank you for everything and supplying us with such a good race.

This event was a definitely memorable one from me and a big step from the sprint distance that I normally do. Everyone from TriStar was very professional and friendly every task. As for the course, that ride was definitely a challenge, the hardest 100Km ever! I will be back next year to do the StarMile and TriStar111 again with an even better time, Macca shall not lap me on the bike 2012!
