Course description

The swim is across the channel between St Kitts and Nevis which will celebrate a 10 yr milestone this year. In recognition of this for the first time the start will be on Cockleshell Beach on St Kitts and the finish at Oualie Beach on Nevis. The distance is 2.5miles (4.1km). In 2011 we had a record number of finishers 113 and a new event record was set by pro triathlete Olivier Marceau with a time of 58:09

This event is both a race and a challenge, can you beat the new record?? Challenge participants are able to do the crossing assisted with fins, snorkels etc, however, assisted swimmers are not eligible for race prizes. We will also be hosting an OECS regional Open Water Championship, with a short course of 1000m on 24th March and the Channel swim serving as the long course, male and female champions will be crowned!!
All participants will receive T-shirts, Finishing medals, Breakfast party at the finish line and return passage to the start on Nevis (or passage from St Kitts to Nevis) and refreshments during the event.

This link will help you remember what happened during the 2011 editon! Olivier Marceau was the winner, and Chris Mc Cormack the second, leaving their mark in an epic race with a spectacular sprint at the end.

The biggest attractions of this event is the fact that it is not only a race but also a challenge, so for those of you who don't feel very comfortable about swimming fast or big distances, please feel free to use fins or a snorkel mask to get you across the beautiful 'Narrows'.

One more thing, we are putting together a team for the Nevis to St Kitts swim to raise funds for St. Kitts Sea Turtle Monitoring Network (SKSTMN) (www.stkittsturtles.org) who need $75k to build their Sea Turtle Centre. Let's do our best in order to save the turtles! Click here to see the whole article!
