The Principality of Monaco will host the brand new TriStar111 Monaco. After five years of Ironman 70.3, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, the Gouvernment, the Monegasque Triathlon Federation and the organisers decide to switch to the successful TriStar label. The entire organising staff of the Ironman 70.3 in Monaco follows CEO Georg Hochegger to his new company and will guarantee continuity while improving the race.
TriStar111 Monaco will replace the Monaco Ironman 70.3 triathlon competition in the Principality of Monaco. The Formula 1 of Triathlon remains in Monaco, while distances change for a more
accessible race: A total distance of 111km has to be accomplished with 1km swimming, 100km cycling and 10km running. The inaugural TriStar event in Monaco will take place on 5 September 2010 with a maximum of 1000 participants.
“TriStar111 Monaco takes place in a unique spot full of splendid views. Athletes appreciated the race we have set up for the past five years, and now I am happy that most of my key staff followed me to make athletes’ dreams come true in my new company. Star Events in general and TriStar111 Monaco in particular will focus on the fun-factor while showing social responsibility and reducing the environmental impact of sports events.” says Georg Hochegger, CEO of Star Production.
The 1km swim takes place in the Larvotto Bay, just off the Larvotto Beach in the Southeast of the Principality. The 100km bike leg will take athletes out of Monaco heading to Roquebrune and up the steep Mountains of the hinterland. Breathtaking views and picturesque villages of the bike ride have always been the centerpiece of the triathlon in Monaco, and TriStar111 Monaco will take athletes to the most stunning places. The 10km run will be accomplished in two and a half loops on the world famous Formula 1 circuit featuring the Tunnel, the Port, the Gardens of the Casino and the hairpin bends.
“The slowest turns in Formula 1 are the fastest bends in TriStar111 Monaco. The hairpin curves of Spelugues will be run downhill and fullspeed. While the run portion is demanding, athletes will be blown away by the setting and the spectators. There are not many more opportunities than the TriStar111 Monaco to run along the Formula 1 circuit in a Monaco closed for traffic!” says Olivier Castelli, Global Event Operations Director of Star Production.
Monte Carlo and the Principality of Monaco have reached excellence in organising high quality and highly mediated sports events like the Formula One Grand Prix, the Monte Carlo Rally, the Monte Carlo Open, the Tennis Masters Monte Carlo, Monte Carlo’s International Show-Jumping, the International Swimmers Meeting, and “Herculis”, the second most important international meeting of the year. Triathlon has become a part of the international sport events in the Principality on the French Riviera, and TriStar111 Monaco will continue to promote the sport of triathlon in this inimitable spot in the World.
TriStar111 Monaco is organised by Star Production SARL, the Monaco-based company owning the TriStar label. Star Production SARL was founded when Georg Hochegger, after 12 years of successfully organising Ironman labelled races in four countries, decided it was time to put the athlete back in the focus of mass participation events. Early in 2010, the entire staff followed Hochegger into the new company in order to pool forces to set up triathlon races that are focused on fun, social responsibility and environmental protection. A portion of each entry fee is donated automatically to Lance Armstrong’s LIVESTRONG™ foundation, and each event applies the 4vita® program to reduce the environmental impact of sports events.
